October 27, 2016 ─ Hendricks Regional Health and Nine13sports have finalized a corporate partnership that will continue to bring the innovative youth bicycle fitness programming created by Nine13sports to schools in Hendricks County in 2017. This will be the second year that Kids Riding Bikes powered by Hendricks Regional Health will be in Hendricks County Schools.

“I’m incredibly excited to have Hendricks Regional Health continue to be a leader in the healthcare community by supporting our programs in schools,” said Tom Hanley, CEO of Nine13sports. “The relationship we have been able to build served more than 2,000 students in Hendricks County for the first time in 2016, and we anticipate our programs to continue to grow in 2017 to try and meet the immense demand from the community within the county.”

This partnership will impact the community in multiple ways, most visibly by providing Kids Riding Bikes programs to more than 2,000 youth for a once per week program session over the course of four weeks. The students will participate using Nine13sports stationary bicycle simulators within their physical education class during the school day. Additionally, Nine13sports will be visible at numerous community events in partnership with Hendricks Regional Health throughout the year. This will provide a unique engagement opportunity for both youth and adults.

“Nine13sports continues to be a growing force in the development of creative physical education programs,” said Adam Scott, Community Relations Manager at Hendricks Regional Health. “Our 2016 partnership delivered engaging curriculum that supplemented physical education teachers’ lessons. Our continued partnership with Nine13sports will get even more students moving and active in 2017, helping Hendricks Regional Health achieve our overall goal of providing our community indispensable healthcare resources.”

The partnership between Hendricks Regional Health and Nine13sports will continue to serve schools in the cities of Plainfield, Brownsburg, Danville, and Avon, and 2017 will see other schools within Hendricks County receive this unique programming as scheduling allows. Nine13sports will continue to have an exclusive healthcare industry relationship with Hendricks Regional Health within the county and will jointly provide additional resources and education on bicycle safety, 911 education, and community health resources.

PDF: Nine13sports Expanding into MSP

Indianapolis, IN ─ October 19, 2016 ─ Nine13sports has announced plans to expand its Kids Riding Bikes programs into Minneapolis, Minnesota. This will mark the second new market expansion for the organization after launching in Portland, Oregon in May of 2015. Staff will begin the business development process in January with a target of launching school-based programs in September of 2017.

“Expansion into new and engaging markets has always been a part of our long-term business model,” said Nine13sports CEO Tom Hanley. “Minneapolis is an exhilarating city and a peer to Indianapolis in just about every data point, in addition to being a place with a culture of health and fitness and a genuine love of bicycling. We look forward to working with both the corporate and philanthropic aspects of the community to serve thousands of youth as part of our school-based Kids Riding Bikes program delivery.”

Hanley added, “This expansion will be funded by new dollars with targeted support specifically for Minneapolis. Indianapolis earnings and commitments will stay within Indianapolis and go towards delivering the most engaging and interactive bicycle-based fitness program in the country.”

Charlie Warner, currently the director at the Portland-based affiliate who oversees Nine13sports Northwest, will be moving to Minneapolis to take the role of Executive Director for the Minneapolis market. Charlie launched Nine13sports NW in Spring 2015 and is directly responsible for the success in Portland, including support from the Nike Portland Community Foundation and an excellent and growing relationship with Portland Public Schools. The Portland market will continue to thrive with a new Executive Director, to be announced at a later date, that will continue to build on the excellent framework Charlie has laid.

“It has been a great experience to share a passion for getting more Kids Riding Bikes in schools in Portland,” said Warner. “I know that we will thrive in Minneapolis and that this market will continue to push Nine13sports towards recognition across the country as a premier resource for schools, foundations, and corporate partners. I’ve learned a lot from our experiences in Portland and look forward to putting those skills into practice once again.”

Continuing to expand into major new markets grants Nine13sports more competitive access to national level corporate partnerships and foundation funding resources for its impactful youth fitness and obesity education programs. The corporate relationships that Nine13sports has developed since its launch in 2012 have continued to help redefine what corporate social responsibility can resemble and how the corporate community can make a direct impact on youth.

Nine13sports will continue to operate its national headquarters out of Indianapolis, focused on nurturing growth throughout Central Indiana and visibility as a successful Indianapolis-based organization. Hanley commented, “We’re proud to be Indianapolis-based and to have the opportunity to change lives across the country through the passion of the bicycle and sports. We cannot thank the support of this community enough for what we’ve been able to achieve over the last five years and I look forward to representing Indianapolis as a brand as we continue to target operations in new cities across the country.”

PDF: Peloton Release 2016

Indianapolis, IN ─ August 18, 2016 ─ Youth fitness nonprofit Nine13sports announced that Peloton Wealth Strategists, an Indianapolis-based investment management company, has extended their corporate partnership of Kids Riding Bikes programs for a second year.

For the next 12 months, Nine13 and Peloton will continue to work together to increase the reach of the nonprofit’s signature programs as the organization continues to grow at a fast pace and is focusing on serving more youth in more schools. There’s something in this partnership for adults, too: Nine13 will work with Peloton Wealth Strategists to provide opportunities to educate consumers about the personal, financial, and communal benefits of charitable giving through organized events throughout the year.

This partnership of physical and financial health initiatives allows both Nine13 and Peloton to practice their missions of helping people thrive in Central Indiana. In the last year, Kids Riding Bikes has brought the health and self-confidence benefits of basic bicycle programming to more than 7,500 Central Indiana youth in school districts across Marion, Hendricks, Morgan, and Shelby counties.

“Having Peloton on board as a partner not only supports our growth in Central Indiana, it also brings a great example of what happens when two organizations build a meaningful relationship for the greater good of the community,” said Tom Hanley, executive director of Nine13sports. “The relationship seemed like such a natural and organic fit — they’ve built their brand to include the bicycle — but we have really bonded over our feeling of mutual duty to improve the lives of others in Indianapolis through positive engagement of physical activity.”

“We really enjoyed partnering with Nine13sports and watching them grow and strive for new heights,” said Matt Bradley, managing partner at Peloton. “By extending Peloton’s corporate support for a second year, we continue to champion their work within the community. We can’t think of a better, more tangible way to give back to our community than by supporting Nine 13’s Kids Riding Bikes initiative.”

About Peloton Wealth Strategists

Peloton is an independent, research-focused fee only investment advisor. We manage customized portfolios for private households and institutional clients. In bike racing, a peloton is a group of cyclists riding in a tight formation to “draft” from each other. Organized pelotons move very efficiently and can maintain much higher speeds than a lone cyclist can achieve. Pelotons are fluid, dynamic, and beautiful in action but require a tremendous amount of coordination, communication, and trust. We manage money by combining individual securities that work together as a structured portfolio, much like a peloton. The result is a powerful, efficient, integrated solution – one that moves clients toward their goals.
