As our team pauses and recharges this Labor Day weekend, we feel fortunate that for the last 6 months we have become a trusted partner to Gleaners Food Bank, Second Helpings, the Indy Hunger Network and the City of Indianapolis – working alongside them to help address food insecurity in our community by delivering critical nourishment directly to households, agencies and community centers.

We are here to serve our neighbors, our friends, our family, and the many residents across the city that may be strangers but are still Hoosiers. As an organization we continue to innovate, listen, take chances, and identify ways we can do more to play a small role in making Indianapolis just a little bit better.

Back in July we restarted some of our youth focused educational programming and have been conducting socially distanced Kids Building Bikes programs as well as ExploreIndy rides across the city.  We anticipate the pace of these programs will continue to pick up through the end of 2020 and will run with maximum scheduling for the 2021 calendar year with continued adjustments to maintain social distancing if needed.

Looking forward into the months that remain in 2020, we are in conversations with some of our school partners across central Indiana that are asking for us to resume our Kids Riding Bikes program as part of their physical education classes.  We have committed to doing so in the coming weeks in a way that ensures we are able to provide a safe experience for the students and look forward to creating moments like these in the very near future!

In addition, we have been working hard in our Near Northwest Neighborhood headquarters to create a learning space that will provide a multitude of new opportunities for programming and engagement with the community around us.  Make sure you tune into our social media accounts on September 13th for a virtual dusty boots tour as construction continues – we can’t wait to show you around!
