Indianapolis, IN ─ August 10, 2015 ─ Central Indiana headquartered nonprofit Nine13sports is excited to announce local home builder Arbor Homes has committed to support Kids Riding Bikes programs in area schools for a second year.

During the first year of the partnership, Nine13sports brought interactive bicycle simulators to more than 900 youth in Washington Township as part of their physical education classes over a four-week period for each student.

“Building relationships with companies born and grown in Central Indiana has fueled our growth and allowed us to directly impact the lives of youth across the region,” said Tom Hanley, executive director of Nine13sports. “Having Arbor Homes join us for a second year of programs helps extend our reach, create new opportunities to get kids more active and supports physical education curriculum in Indianapolis. That’s the long term focus of our organization, and it’s an honor to do that alongside Arbor Homes.”

The second year of the partnership creates the opportunity to bring the fitness programming to students in Pike Township, an area Nine13sports has wanted to but not yet reached at a wide scale with its programming. Nine13sports will introduce Kids Riding Bikes to the three middle schools within the Pike district and will focus on grades 6 through 8.

“We know that part of our role as a strong company is to help support initiatives designed to serve the needs of Central Indiana,” said Curtis Rector, president of Arbor Homes. “When I started Arbor Homes in 1994, I knew that as we grew, we would focus on connecting with the community. We’ve been very fortunate in this business, and we’re excited to be able to support Nine13sports and their mission through financial support.”

The four-week program gives students the opportunity to exercise on stationary bicycle simulators at no cost to the local districts or families. During those four weeks, students benefit from not only the physical exercise but also the teamwork skills they practice with their classmates. Programming starts in September and runs through the end of the year.
