KIDS RIDING BIKES

KIDS BUILDING BIKES

STEM EDUCATION

“The biggest thing for me is that riding a bike is something they can do for the rest of their lives. I call them life-long leisure activities. Riding a bike is fun, it has a social aspect to it, and it is something that a lot of my students don’t get really get exposed to or have the opportunity to experience”

Marcus Dalton

P.E. Teacher, Nora Elementary

ExploreIndy rides are for kids of all ages to come together and see the city on two wheels.  The routes for these excursions vary in length as we customize them to the needs of each group but are always casually paced and guided by our staff.  These rides are typically comprised of students in 6th-12th grade and often include other family members, teachers or community center leaders.

These rides allow us to demonstrate how to properly use different types of bicycle infrastructure and how to properly interact with the pedestrians and motorists we encounter along the way.

“It’s one thing to set up a table or have a prize wheel at things like events, but to have a 30 foot dome with your branding on it and bicycles there is a level of engagement people will remember.”

Adam Scott

Interim Director, HRH Foundation and Community Relations

As we explore all the cool places and spaces around Indy, we find opportunities to pause our pedals at locations where we share the interesting and often untold stories about the history of our most iconic landmarks, pieces of public art and neighborhoods – the city becomes a living history classroom! The end result is that riders become more knowledgeable about and more emotionally connected to the things that makes our city special.

Adults don’t have to miss out on the fun – through ActiveIndy Tours we conduct guided bicycle rides that can be used as teambuilding for corporate groups, convention tours and family outings!
