(Indianapolis, Ind.) – March 1, 2016 – Nine13sports, an Indianapolis nonprofit organization, has been selected as one of just five finalists for this year’s Tip the Hat Award grants from the Indianapolis-based LIDS Foundation.
Public voting for the finalist selection began on Monday, February 29 at 8 a.m. EST and concludes on Sunday, March 6 at 11:59 p.m. EST. A total of $300,000 in grants will be awarded with the top prize of $125,000 to be announced on April 14. One vote per device is permitted.
Nine13sports promotes health, wellness, and exercise for local youth between the ages of 8 and 18 through its Kids Riding Bikes℠ programs. For the participants, traditional bicycles are integrated with technology to provide a turn-key product for youth programs, schools, and other community organizations. In addition to individual betterment of health and fitness, Nine13sports’ programs promote community, teamwork, and mutual respect for one another designed to foster a lasting impact. The mission of Nine13sports is “to fully engage the opportunities of bicycling for multi-faceted teaching youth; to promote the overall development and well-being of the youth with whom we are privileged to interact; to promote youth respect, advocacy and involvement in their community; and to be responsible stewards of the funds entrusted by benefactors.”
The primary focus of the LIDS Foundation is “to improve the lives of young people in the communities in which LIDS Sports Group operates. This will initially be done through offering resources to non-profit organizations or events whose goals align with the LIDS Foundation – those supporting healthy and active lifestyle programs.” Here’s a link about the LIDS Foundation:
