What a past four days it was for Nine13sports! Kids Riding Bikes served the attendees at INShape Indiana Black & Minority Health Fair this past Thursday through Sunday at the Indiana Convention Center. We had the opportunity to get upwards of 1,750 individuals on our bicycle simulator program during the 4-day stretch we were at the Health Fair in partnership with the Indiana State Department of Health. Furthermore, as part of our partnership with the ISDH, we distributed and fitted 300 bicycle helmets to youth at the fair.

Loved seeing families having a little fun and getting competitive on our bikes!

The event was an excellent outlet for our staff to educate the community on our innovative Kids Riding Bikes program, in addition to enlightening and highlighting to them the growth and development of the program over the past several years. We lost track of how many kids commented that they had participated in our programs either at their respective school or youth organization such as the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis or Junior Achievement of Central Indiana. Additionally, the chance to partner with the ISDH to promote healthy living and physical fitness through our Kids Riding Bikes program aligned with the goal of the health fair’s of increasing minority awareness of chronic diseases and how to prevent them. Maintaining daily physical activity such as cycling has been shown to help lower the chances of chronic diseases, among other health benefits.

The event was similar to many of the community events that we participate in as it was a fantastic opportunity to get individuals of all ages moving and active on our bikes. Moreover, we had the joy of witnessing countless families engage in friendly battles to see who could take home the title of the fastest rider on our bikes! We can’t express our gratitude enough to the Indiana State Department of Health for the privilege to serve the community that we deeply cherish. Thank you very much to the ISDH for partnering with us to positively impact the health and well-being of all Hoosiers!
