Nine13sports partnership with Indy Parks & Recreation was off and running (or should we say biking) for the first time last week at two different park locations here in town. On Tuesday and Thursday, you would have found Kids Riding Bikes at the Windsor Village Park Family Center in the afternoon and witnessing our staff engaging with the kids and getting them moving on our unique and innovative bicycle simulator program. On Friday as we wrapped up our work week, you would have found us getting more kids on two wheels at the Douglass Park Family Center in the morning. Our staff has been overjoyed and elated to have had the privilege to work with the youth at the Indy Parks & Recreation summer days camps and to use the art of the bicycle to promote physical activity and healthy living to them.

8 bikes with 8 kids on them… that’s what we like to see!

This week, our staff has already served the campers at the Christian Park Family Center and will be at the Riverside Family Center tomorrow in the afternoon. Next Saturday, July 8th, you’ll find us serving the community at ‘Pack the Parks,’ the yearly celebration of our cities parks in the afternoon at Brookside Park.

This partnership is our first major expansion of Kids Riding Bikes summer programming since our partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis launched in 2012.  It’s a natural partnership and one that we plan on continuing to expand and grow over the next several years! A big thanks to the remarkable leadership at Indy Parks & Recreation for partnering with us this summer to get more #KidsRidingBikes!
