We are wrapping up a monumental and historic week of Kids Riding Bikes this week as for the first time in the history of our organization we employed three operating team during the duration of the entire week. You could find Kids Riding Bikes for the first time at Indianapolis Public Schools Northwest Middle School and Washington Township Schools Allisonville Elementary, in addition to IPS School 114 that has been a reoccurring site of ours over the past few years.

Our staff at Northwest Middle School had the opportunity to work with the 8th grade class and get them excited about the endless possibilities that two wheels can present them. All of the 150 students in the class had the chance to participate in our programs at least two times & many more took advantage of any additional possibility to get moving on our renowned bicycle simulator program. Furthermore, we had the privilege of interacting and working with the life skills students which we are always more than happy to do.

At Allionsville, we had the fortune of working with each and every student at the school. Since this was our first time at the school, all of the 1st – 5th grade students participated in our program for the first time and came away exhilarated with the chance to get moving on our bicycle simulators and build the foundation for critical life skills such as teamwork, sportsmanship, hard work, and discipline, among many others.

Last, but certainly not least, we had the privilege of returning to School 114 and getting all of the 450 Kindergarten – 6th students the chance to engage in our Kids Riding Bikes programming. All of the students did a remarkable job on our bikes and loved having the chance to encourage each other and promote leadership to one another. The power of the bicycle was in full effect all week at 114, and the other two schools, that’s for sure.

All in all, we had the privilege of getting upwards of 1,300 students on two wheels this past week and to create over 2,200 youth interactions. We feel incredibly fortunate to have the unwavering support and commitment from several community partners such as the Lids Foundation, Finish Line Youth Foundation, Central Indiana Community Foundation, The Lilly Endowment, Inc. & many more for generously giving us the opportunity to bestow all of the possibilities that living a wholesome lifestyle can create and for giving our staff the chance to foster a positive and fulfilling relationship with so many youth!
