As part of a continuing series that will be running every Thursday, we’re going to be featuring the backgrounds and services of our numerous sponsors and partners. Furthermore, we’re going to exhibit how their relationship with us is making an impact in the lives of youth and in the community. Today, our focus is on Indiana Air National Guard:
Overview:
Under the “Total Force” concept, Indiana Air National Guard units are considered to be Air Reserve Components (ARC) of the United States Air Force (USAF). Indiana ANG units are trained and equipped by the Air Force and are operationally gained by a Major Command of the USAF if federalized. In addition, the Indiana Air National Guard forces are assigned to Air Expeditionary Forces and are subject to deployment tasking orders along with their active duty and Air Force Reserve counterparts in their assigned cycle deployment window.
Along with their federal reserve obligations, as state militia units the elements of the Indiana ANG are subject to being activated by order of the Governor to provide protection of life and property, and preserve peace, order and public safety. State missions include disaster relief in times of earthquakes, hurricanes, floods and forest fires, search and rescue, protection of vital public services, and support to civil defense.
Relationship with Nine13sports:
The relationship that we’re fortunate to have with the Indiana Air National Guard began in September 2014 when we partnered with them to bring our programming into the Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township for the first time at Belzer Middle School, as well as our expanding our programming at Gambold Preparatory Magnet High School.

We enjoyed the time Sgt Miller (far left) spent on our bikes in the fall of 2014 at Gambold. She did a tremendous job encouraging and inspiring the students!
“Kids Riding Bikes powered by the Indiana Air National Guard” focused on multiple initiatives that benefited both of our organizations. A dynamic new aspect to the program was the visible participation of members from the Indiana Air National Guard who joined our staff at specific program sites. This allowed for student interaction and to educate students about the type of person who chooses to join the National Guard and the life opportunities it affords.
We’re extremely honored to have the relationship we do with Sgt Daggett, Sgt Miller, and the rest of the Indiana Air National Guard. We look forward to being a resource that provides a unique experience to both the students and our partners at the Indiana Air National Guard.
