As part of a continuing series that will be running every Thursday, we’re going to be featuring the backgrounds and services of our numerous sponsors and partners. Furthermore, we’re going to exhibit how their relationship with us is making an impact in the lives of youth and in the community. Today, our focus is on the Lids Foundation:
Foundation Overview:Â
The Lids Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, recognizes that today’s youth are tomorrow’s leaders. With a mission to support your people in our communities, the Foundation works to engage them in sports-related activities. These activities promote active and healthy lifestyles as well as leadership and growth opportunities. The LIDS Foundation turns this belief into action primarily through offering resources, be it in the manner of time, expertise, funds, or materials, to non-profit organizations whose goals and values align with those of the LIDS Foundation.
Relationship with Nine13sports:Â
Our relationship with the Lids Foundation materialized in August of 2014. For that reason, we were able to bring our Kids Riding Bikesâ„ programming to two schools in 2014: IPS Sidener Academy and Guion Creek Middle School out in Pike Township. Moreover, in March of 2015, we were elated to receive a micro-grant from the foundation as part of their annual, ‘Tip the Hat Award.’ Additionally, this past September, we brought our bikes to the Lids corporate headquarters as a way to give the employees an opportunity to ride our bikes and find out more about Nine13 and the impact we’re making in the community. Safe to say, they enjoyed finding out how awesome our bikes are and the ways we use them to get kids to more active on two wheels.
For the past several years, acclaimed IndyCar driver Ed Carpenter and his wife, Heather, have been advocates of Nine13sports and everything that we do to get kids healthier and to embrace an active lifestyle. Because of them, and the entire Lids Family, Nine13sports is continuing to grow not only in Central Indiana, but in Portland and several additional cities in the future, including two that will begin delivering programming services in the second half of 2016.  Thank you Lids Foundation for everything that you do for Nine13sports!
