Today marks Nine13sports 6th school year providing programs across Central Indiana. From our modest beginnings during the second half of the 2011-2012 school year, to where we stand today entering the 2016-2017 year, it’s been an incredible journey that has had many highs and lows and has continuously shown me what can happen when you enable a child to succeed on two wheels.

The first four years of school programs were a learning curve for us. We continuously redefined our curriculum and delivery to create the best possible programming opportunities for the youth we are privileged to serve. As we got into early 2015, we knew we had a product that was solid, stable, and impactful.

Since then, we’ve worked on growing our ability to deliver Kids Riding Bikes services to more schools, more youth, and in a larger capacity. We’ve already added tens of thousands of dollars of equipment in 2016 to our operations to handle expanded opportunities and we’ve been working behind the scenes to beef up our staffing to be able to serve more schools.

Much of my 2016 has been spent behind the scenes shaping the course that Nine13sports will be on for the next several years. My goal between now and 2017 is to be able to scale up from the 40 schools/160 school program days we currently can handle to serving 140 schools/560 school program days with additional operations teams. As you can imagine, the corporate and foundation deals that will support that do not come quickly or easily, and much of my year has been finalizing those relationships that will support and sustain this growth.

While I can’t confirm details just yet, I think you’ll all be pleasantly surprised about the multiple pieces of news we have in the pipeline over the next few months. We’re working on finalizing logistics and details on several major engagements and it will be a transformation for Nine13 while aligning perfectly with the vision I’ve had that has continuously driven us forward since 2011.

You should be seeing more Nine13 vehicles on the road, more Nine13 bikes in schools, and thousands of more Kids Riding Bikes as we quickly approach the end of this year.

Most importantly, I want to thank all of you. Regardless if you were one of our first supporters individually or through corporate partnerships and grant dollars or you’re a new addition to our team; you are an integral part of Nine13sports and have helped shape our organization. You are the reason I stand here today excited at what we have in the pipeline and beyond thrilled at the student capacity we will be able to serve.

This has never been about me or my staff; this has always been about students and schools, health and fitness, and creating opportunity. And together, we’re going to do a whole lot more of those things in the months and years to come.

The list of people to thank is long, growing, and no matter how many times I try, I feel that I cannot capture my appreciation for all of you that are part of Kids Riding Bikes.

Sincerely,

Tom Hanley
