John DeWaal is Senior Vice President, Brand Marketing of Anchor Media Services focusing on advising clients to develop integrated marketing plans by leveraging underperforming assets that to help fund marketing activities. With a degree in Marketing from Illinois State University and a Certificate of Accounting from the State University of New York at Buffalo, John provides a unique perspective on marketing strategy and business development.
An accomplished brand builder, John was the architect behind developing the New Era flag logo and the brand platform that launched and supported the brand identity. Leveraging the brand identity John was able to evolve New Era into a lifestyle brand that is iconic across the sports and fashion spectrum. After taking a swing with his own e-commerce startup, John joined LIDS to lead their marketing. With LIDS, John led efforts that include relaunching a loyalty program, establishing a robust social media presence, developing a new store design concept and creating the LIDS Foundation (a 501c3).
John has a strong working relationship with professional sports leagues (MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL) as well as their player associations (MLBPA, NBAPA, NFLPA, NHLPA) and has extensive experience in the sports marketing and licensing industries. His broad areas of expertise include brand strategy and development, integrated marketing (social, digital, traditional), sales, e-commerce, public relations, retail, apparel, fashion, merchandising, and influencer marketing.
John, his wife Kim and their three children live in Carmel, Indiana. Away from the office, John likes to spend time remodeling houses as well as biking and playing golf. John has spent considerable time as a member of or leading charitable boards including the LIDS Foundation, Central Indiana Knights Hockey Club, Caps for Kids and Lancaster Baseball. He is currently a member of the Indianapolis National College Football Championship Host Committee.
