Nine13sports has had an amazing relationship with Special Olympics Indiana since 2013 and we’re excited to return to Terre Haute this Friday and Saturday for what is becoming an annual trip to help support the Special Olympics Summer Games.
The Summer Games are one of only two events that Nine13sports donates our program services towards without hesitation and without any committed support from either the organizer or a corporate partner. In fact, last year, we underwrote the $4,000 in weekend programming directly out of our budget.
We’re big believers that the bicycle is the ultimate equalizer and that there is no better example of that than supporting the amazing athletes and their families in The Village. We provide a safe and controlled venue that allows everyone to participate in a fun and engaging activity.
Most importantly, we’re also big believers in the common good. We understand that we are stewards of our community and that we must lead by example. We understand that we’ve been given this privilege of helping the bicycle become bigger than just Kids Riding Bikes and that we must take responsibility for providing an interactive experience for all individuals who are excited about two wheels.
We’ve made amazing friends in the last two years of our supporting role at the Games. We’ve met amazing staff from Special Olympics, Finish Line and Finish Line Youth Foundation, athletes that are excited to see us and rush towards our bikes, and have gotten to know many of the tireless volunteers that give their time to make this massive event a success.
For Nine13, this has become a defining weekend for our staff and interns that have a chance to experience the passion these athletes have and the true dedication to the spirit of sport that they highlight.
Out in Terre Haute this weekend? Stop by and get inspired! And make sure you stop by the Nine13sports booth powered by Franciscan St. Francis to say hello and hop on our bikes!
