This past Friday and Saturday, Nine13sports transformed “Kids Riding Bikes” into “Athletes Riding Bikes” when we went out to the Special Olympics Indiana Summer Games in Terre Haute.  It was our second year partnering with Special Olympics and this year was even better than last.

We had over 500 athletes and their families and friends come through our bikes over the two days, pedaling a total of over 100 miles.  Nine13sports believes that the bicycle is the ultimate equalizer and the ease of which our program was integrated into Athlete Village highlights that.  We’re anxious to talk with Special Olympics staff in the next few weeks and see how we can potentially collaborate on a broader scale going forward.

Huge thanks to the whole event staff who run such a great operation and the volunteers who helped out Nine13sports over the course of both days.

A few photos from this weekend, and a whole series that can be found on our Facebook page.

this guy was the son of a volunteer, he wound up riding 5 miles on our bikes over the course of Friday (and we hooked him up with a shirt!)

It’s an honor to be part of this event

teamwork and healthy activity is what this is all about

this was a a really fun portion of Saturday, combining police officers and Special Olympics athletes on our bikes

Finish Line brought out hundreds of volunteers on Friday and they were a huge help at our Nine13 setup
