This past Saturday was an eventful one to say the least for our Nine13sports staff and interns as we ran programming at two different events. Our bikes were stationed throughout the day at the annual Indy Criterium Bicycle Festival on Monument Circle in partnership with Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance. Hundreds of youth and their families, along with Boomer from the Indiana Pacers and Freddy from the Indiana Fever, joined us in conquering our quarter of a mile course. Moreover, we spent time catching up with our friends from Freewheelin’ Community Bikes, INDYCOG, United State of Indiana, and many more throughout the duration of the day.

Pacers Boomer joining in on the fun of Kids Riding Bikes!

After we were all ready to rock and roll at the Indy Crit in the morning, half of our team made the forty-five minute journey down south to Shelbyville for their annual Get Healthy Here Farmers Market. We joined Major Hospital in partnering for this event and ran our programming from the beginning of the event until it wrapped up around noon. This event is organized to educate the community about the importance of health and wellness, therefore, it only made sense for us to be there!

This was only the second time we’ve administered programming at two events in the same day (the other one being the exact same day last year), however, everything went according to plan and we couldn’t have dreamed of better weather. Thank you to both of our amazing sponsors, Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance and Major Hospital, for the opportunity to partner together. Not only were we able to get hundreds of youth and their families on our bikes, our staff and interns were able to educate them on the lasting effect our Kids Riding Bikes® programming is having on thousands of youth throughout the country.
