Junior Achievement 1

Great to be back on Achievement Blvd!

The first week of summer programming for Kids Riding Bikes® was full of smiles, defining moments, and hundreds of Boys & Girls Club and Junior Achievement kids riding our bicycle simulators. Our first stop to begin the week was at the Boys & Girls Club Lilly unit on the east side of Indianapolis. We’re honored to have the chance to bring our programming to this unit for the first time this summer and to get their youth engaged on our bicycles. On Tuesday, our staff and interns switched gears and spent the day at the brand-new Boys & Girls Club Finish Line unit. This space is exceptionally well-designed and, similar to the Lilly unit, we’re thrilled to deliver our programming to the youth of this facility. Fast forward to Wednesday and we were at our last Boys & Girls Club stop of the week. This unit is the LeGore unit and one that we’ve had the privilege of serving the youth of Central Indiana before in the past. Many of the kids at this unit we’ve seen before on our bikes and it’s heartwarming to see the enthusiasm pour out of them when they talk about riding our bikes in the past. We’ll be at one more BGCI unit next week, Keenan-Stahl, and this is another reoccurring spot that we’ve delivered our programming at before. To wrap up the week, we brought our bikes to the Junior Achievement BizTown Summer Camp on Thursday morning. We’ve had a remarkable partnership with JA since 2014 and love working with their campers. We look forward to being there for the next three weeks every Thursday morning!

In addition to getting hundreds of kids active and healthy on two wheels, our staff and interns rolled out our summer entry/exit survey at the Boys & Girls Club to collect data relating to the way our youth view the bicycle. These questions will be asked to gauge the overall interest of bike riding within each age group at the Boys & Girls Club. The data we collect will be momentous in our organization’s long-term goal of getting more of our youth on bikes and to have the appropriate solutions to ensure we achieve our goals.

The new Boys & Girls Club Finish Line is breathtaking and looks even better with Kids Riding Bikes!

An extended thank you to the Finish Line Youth Foundation, the LIDS Foundation, the Indianapolis Foundation, and the Lilly Endowment for giving us the means to make a positive and long-lasting impression on these kids. Your support of our summer programming is giving hundreds of kids the opportunity to recognize what it means to be healthy and active!
